Bill Cosby breaks silence over multiple rape allegations

Bill Cosby has spoken for the first time about sexual assault claims made against him – by making it clear he has no comment to make.

In previously unseen video footage released by the Associated Press the comedian – who was conducting the interview with his wife Camille on November 6 – was faced with the reporter quizzing him over comedian Hannibal Buress calling him ‘a rapist’.

However his response was simple: ‘No, no…we don’t answer.’

Cosby went on to say: ‘There is no response. There is no comment about that. And I’ll tell you why. I don’t want to compromise your integrity, but I don’t talk about it.’

He is later seen, after the interview, requesting that the footage of the exchange is not shown, and adding: ‘We thought it wouldn’t be necessary to go over that with you.’

The interview comes as a number of rape allegations against the 77-year-old have resurfaced – with model Janice Dickinson the latest to claim she had been assaulted by Cosby, in an incident which took place in 1982.

His lawyer, John P. Schmitt, issued a statement on Sunday: ‘Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced.

‘The fact they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment.

‘He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives.’

The allegations have forced Netflix to put their upcoming special on the US star, which was supposed to air on November 28, on hold.
