If there is any recording artist that made history in the 50’s with the release of numerous hits, and  his dominance in the different music charts across the world; it’s no other than Ray Charles. The hit wonder who was nicknamed “The Genius” by music lovers across the world was known for his unique influence in soul music among the black and white audience.

In the next 5 days, it will be 10 years since the demise of the great legend yet his memory will forever linger in the minds of music lovers across the world, not forgetting his revolutionary step towards racism and prejudice which he started in Georgia as he refused to perform in a segregated seating in Georgia – a move which brought unity, peace and love amongst the American people.

Ray’s story has been such an inspiration to so many people across the globe, from the moment he learnt fundamental principles of the piano, to the moment he watched his only brother die and then losing his sight afterwards. All these didn’t stop him from being one the greatest singers of all time and from being the  inventor of soul music.

The Georgian born artist reached a milestone throughout his career by winning 12 Grammy Awards, a feat which has also inspired other people with some sort of disability across with world. Other achievements include earning a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, being ranked number 10 on the Rolling Stone Magazine list of “100 Greatest Artist Of All Time” and also ranked second on the “100 Greatest Singers Of All Time”.

In 1986, the Iconic singer created ‘The Ray Charles Foundation’ which is committed to supporting people with disabilities. The foundation also gives provisional support to the youth through education and talent training.
