“Focus” is the new champion at North American box office. The romantic heist movie starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie collected an estimated $19.1 million on its debut weekend.

Despite a modest opening, it’s considerably a more successful premiere than Smith’s “After Earth” (2013) which debuted with $27.5 million against its $130 million budget since “Focus” was made on a smaller budget ($50 million).

Last week’s winner “Fifty Shades of Grey” plunges to No. 4 with approximately $10.9 million, dropping 74% from last week.

Internationally, the erotic movie still proves to be a phenomenon with additional $36 million from 59 markets for an international total of $338.4 million and a worldwide haul of $486.2 million.

“Kingsman: The Secret Service” holds onto its second place with an estimated $11.8 million, only dropping 36% from last week. “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” also keeps its position steady at No. 3 with approximately $11.2 million (drop 32.4%).

Another newcomer making into the top ten this week is “The Lazarus Effect”. The horror movie starring Olivia Wilde debuted at No. 5 with an estimated $10.6 million.

Enjoying a boost from Julianne Moore’s Best Actress win at the recent Academy Awards, “Still Alice” moves up two spots to No. 9 with $2.7 million (up 24.4%). “Birdman”, which took the Best Picture prize from the February 22 ceremony, also sees an increase in its weekly haul with an estimated $1.98 million (up 125%).
