AY holds Abuja spellbound with AY Live ‘Complete Happiness’ edition

Father’s day did not go uncelebrated as AY made it a remarkable day for fathers and fun lovers. He captivated the city of Abuja on Sunday, 21 June 2015, at the Transcorp Hilton hotel; in his show tagged “AY Live: Complete Happiness”.

The concert had music performances, dance presentation, comedy skits and stand-up comedy.

The show kicked off at about 6:00 pm with red carpet paparazzi. The massive crowd turnout at the venue had families, friends, couples and youths come out to give themselves a treat.

After whetting the crowd’s appetite with performances from upcoming acts, AY, UshBabe and Elenu playing the role of Bola Tinubu, Ben Murray Bruce and President Buhari respectively; got the audience cracking by re-enacting the President’s famous “I am for everybody and I am for nobody” inauguration speech.

Their sarcastic representation of the speech set the ball rolling for other comedians like Ajebo, Atom the Mimic, Wafu, Shortcut and Stainless; and the only female in the lineup, Helen Paul.

Akpororo stepped on stage garbed in navy blue Jalabiya, white jean and gold sneakers with 4 to 5 blings on his neck. The audience cheered him on stage

His performance was grand as usual. Akpororo practically out shined every other comic act –  and I’m not just referring to his outfit.

After the audience had been over fed with laughter, it was time to hit the dance floor.

Mavin’s progeny, Reekado Banks kicked off this second phase. Then came Dammy Krane who performed his latest hit ‘Amin’.

M.I. and Phyno stole the show. The two acts brought their A-Game to the stage. They ditched out hits upon hits leaving nobody sitting as we all danced to the string baseline of Phyno’s songs and the rhythmic sounds of M.I’s tunes.

The apex of the show for me was M.I’s unplanned collaboration with Akpororo on “African Rapper Number one”. Akpororo infused his Ijaw flovour as he sang the chorus of the song while M.I. went hard on the verse.

That was the perfect icing on the already prepared cake.
