Jeremy Renner has revealed that he is keen to star alongside Matt Damon in a future Bourne movie.

Renner starred as Aaron Cross in the franchise’s fourth instalment, 2012’s Bourne Legacy, after Damon chose to sit it out. Damon is now returning for Bourne 5, which is due to start shooting later this summer for a July 2016 release.

The producer of the Bourne franchise, Frank Marshall, confirmed earlier this year (2015) that there are no plans for Damon and Renner to appear together in the same film. However, in a new interview with Screen Rant, Renner insisted that he has not left the franchise behind.

“I love that world. I love the character. If they want to do that, I’m in,” Renner said. “There’s no ‘no’ coming from this direction. I don’t pull the strings on that…”

Director Paul Greengrass, who was behind the camera for the second and third Bourne films, is also returning for next year’s Bourne 5. For the first time, Greengrass and Damon will be writing the screenplay themselves, alongside Christopher Rouse, who served as editor on the second and third Bourne films.

Damon’s co-stars will include Julia Stiles, who has signed up to reprise her role as covert agent Nicky Parsons, and Ex Machina actress Alicia Vikander, who has been cast in an unknown role. Meanwhile, Tommy Lee Jones has recently signed up to appear in an unknown supporting role.
