Fans insult media personality, Toke Makinwa, for turning a blind eye to the death of her countryman and paying tribute to Nipsey Hussle.
April Fools’ Day 2019 wasn't all fun and laughter as the painful fangs of reality bit in to remind people the importance of living their best lives.
Many woke to the painful announcement that rapper, Nipsey Huddle, was shot six times in front of his store and was confirmed dead at the hospital shortly after. Many couldn't believe how such an upright man trying to do good in his neighborhood and impact youths to live gang free lives could be snuffed of life in open space in such short time.
Nipsey was a promising artiste, a great lover and an awesome father to his children. Before his painful exit, he was in a relationship with actress and fashion influencer, Lauren London.
Many celebrities have expressed their shock, pain and sorrow at the loss of such a unique talent from the world. American artistes are coming out to say that, before his death, they had spoken to him and had planned to work with him.
The Nigerian music industry wasn't left out of mourning the death of someone many claimed to have listened and looked up to. In fact, Davido took to his Instagram page to say he was looking forward to working with Nipsey.
Burna Boy also paid tribute to Nipsey. Toke Makinwa decided to do the same in her own way. She must have been feeling the pain of Lauren London, who had only recently found happiness in a relationship, when she wrote this piece on her page:
Fans came for Toke Makinwa for being hypocritical. They argued that Toke should have put as much energy into paying tribute to the young man who was recently killed by a stray bullet from SARS as she did in paying tribute to the international rapper. Although the OAP uploaded images of the deceased Kola on her story to show her sympathy, many felt it wasn't enough.
Do you think Toke Makinwa is being hypocritical or are the fans taking things way out of proportion?
