Naira Marley has indeed gotten more than he bargained for. Members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, are bent on charging him to court regardless of the leaked videos alleging his release.
After the first court hearing, which held on the 20th of May and was adjourned till the 30th of May, there were reports that Naira Marley had been released on bail.
Some die-hard loyal fans had organised a major protest for the rapper, marching to the courthouse demand his release, before the widespread misinformation. A viral video of Naira Marley talking to his fans soon surfaced online and it was assumed that he had regained his freedom.
According to a statement released by the EFCC, the video should not be taken seriously. The EFCC further emphasised that Naira Marley has been duly transferred from their custody to Ikoyi prison where he awaits his bail application hearing slated for 30th of May.
They criticised friends of the rapper who only used the video as a propaganda to promote his image.
Many now believe that EFCC is out to make an example of the rapper. They are of the opinion that the case should have been dropped a long time, since the rapper ought to have learnt his lesson from the arrest.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Naira Marley should be taken to court and tried or should he be discharged?
