Burna Boy Plans To Take His Music To “Unfamiliar Countries”

In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, Nigerian music sensation, Burna Boy, spoke about his career and his forthcoming album.

He noted that he has plans to take his genre of music to "unfamiliar countries" with the hope of breaking into their music scene with his Afrobeat sounds. He also said he would be embarking on a world tour soon, majorly to countries like China and others that are not familiar with the Afrobeat genre of music.

When asked about his growth locally, Burna Boy said he is now recognised more in Nigeria because the global music industry recognises him.

“Nigerians love me a lot more now because they can see that the whole world likes me, too. They think I’m something special, but I’m not. I’m just a human whose skill is making music. The way I see it, everyone plays their own role in the world, and no role is more important than the other,” he said.

Burna Boy has enjoyed major success this year after being one of the few Nigerians to perform at the American Music Festival, Coachella. He also fetched the best International Act at the BET 2019 awards and was one of the Nigerian musicians that featured in Beyonce's new album "The Gift".

He recently performed his hit single, “Anybody”, on Jimmy Kimmel Live and released the tracklist for his forthcoming album “African Giant”, which features a host of global musicians and icons.
