I Pray Nigerians Learn From Me - Burna Boy

Bernard Femi

Nigeria’s Afro-fusion singer, popularly known as Burna Boy, in response to the heated argument on social media, said Nigerians need to learn from him. He also added that the future of the continent depends on the kind of strength he shows.

This new comment is coming a few days after making an initial controversial statement on social media where he claimed to be the best in the country’s music industry since the death of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti.

This has since led to a lot of arguments on social media. There have also been arguments on the singer’s success, with many respective fans claiming the likes of Wizkid, D’banj and Tuface paved the way for him to have his shine.

Burna Boy finally responded to these arguments on Twitter, firing back at the outrageous tweets against him before later deleting the tweets.

He also reacted to the comments claiming that he has been down over the 2020 Grammy loss to Angelique Kidjo, adding that he was antagonized and wished bad only because he was being truthful.

Here are the deleted tweets:

"Remember I told you I was the African and most of you laughed and said I should be grateful for small fonts. I pray that you learn from me. I mean this is no bragging way.

“The wise know that the future of Africa depends on the kind of strength and resilience I show."

"You know you danced, snag along to any Burna Boy song, or you were at any of my shows turning up anytime from 2012-2018 and you are following these spineless Olodo’s to say I’ve only been here 2 years."

"You’re following them to rejoice and wish me bad. You say, ‘thank God he didn’t win’ Because I say the truth and because of your twisted fake views on humility."

"I’ve been out here with my family since 2012, going through unspeakable things just to get here against all odds."

"I repeat that is not Fela or my family can ever say they paved way for me. I drew my own map and followed it. This is just the beginning, though Una no go sleep."
