Nollywood actor, Odunlade Adekola, who comes from a prominent royal family (Iletun) in Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State, is about to be crowned king.
There have been rumours and tips that he would be the next Oba of the town, as he was chosen by his royal family to represent them.
According to ‘City People’, it is the turn of the Odunlade family to produce the next Oba of the town because it’s rotational tradition. The Imuya royal family has served their term as they produced the last Oba and now it is the turn of the Odunlades.
A few days ago, there were rumours that some ruling houses and the kingmakers had assembled themselves in secret to select one of the contestants for the stool without carrying the government along.
The development created unnecessary tension in the community until government representatives, led by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, intervened.
The kingmakers have, however, been warned against violating the State Chieftaincy Law and due process in the selection of the next monarch for the town. And every step taken would have the approval of the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
