The Dance Deal Training Foundation (TDDTF) organised a dance competition hosted by the Ministry for Tourism, Arts and Culture, and supported by Ministry of Education at the Teslim Balogun Sport Hall on 21st June, 2016. The Schools involved were Onitolo Senior Secondary School, Government Senior College, Aguda Senior Grammer School, Eric Moore Senior High School, Surulere Senior Secondary School, Iponri Estate Senior High School, Gbaja Boys High School, Surulere Girls Senior Secondary School Community Senior Grammar School and Jubilee Senior Secondary School.
The Dance Deal Training Foundation (TDDTF) has been giving scholarships to young adults who want to become professional dancers since 2009. In that light, the coordinator sought permission from the Lagos State Ministry of Education to extend this opportunity to teenagers in Government Secondary Schools.
This proposal was approved and instructors were sent to 10 Lagos State Schools in October 2015 to teach the Students.
The competition is an avenue for inter school relationships. It has given the students opportunity to be part of a big vision and motivated them to push to be the best in this competition, in their education and in life generally. With renewing the mind and focusing on great things, we can find solutions to problems and move Lagos forward.
The winning school in the competition won a sum of N300,000 and an opportunity to have a standard dance studio in their school that can be used for all performing Art programs. The first runner up got the sum of N200,000 and the second runner up got the sum of N100,000.
