15 GIRLS TO RECEIVE JAMB/WASSCE 2017 EXAMINATION SPONSORSHIP

The Conversation awards 15 girls with examination sponsorship on 8th Edition.

Pioneered by Joy Isi Bewaji, the first edition of The Conversation held in Lagos on 3 May, 2015. Men and women came together to start up sincere conversations, question patriarchy and other gender related issues.

In march 2016, The Conversation held in New York at the 60th session of The Commission on the Status of Women. Issues as relating to justice for violated women and male sexual entitlements were top on the list. Few days after, The Conversation held also at Harvard where Joy spoke on African Feminism.
In its 8th edition, The Conversation train is headed for Lagos. The event takes place on Saturday, 24 September at the Colonades Hotel, Ikoyi.

Because every girl child deserves proper education no matter her background, this self-empowerment edition of The Conversation; sponsored by a list of donors, will reach out to 50 teenage girls from indigent communities. Most of the girls in these communities are exposed to unwanted pregnancy and abuse of all sorts. Giving them an education will put them away from the harsh realities of growing up disadvantaged. New voices; Evans Ufeli, a human rights lawyer and Olorunfunmi Adebajo of Kindle Africa are headliners.

About The Conversation

“The Conversation” is a girl child/woman actualization cause. It has featured events where issues such as Patriarchy, Violence against women and Rape have been smashed by young intelligent men and women. The Conversation has been to Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, New York, Harvard and is headed for Lagos again this Saturday. It is a closed event. Hence, few participants have been selected to be a part of it.
In the words of the convener, Joy Bewaji “It’s a bus ride from their communities to Ikoyi, where they can see possibilities.”
