#CleanNigeria2016: The National Waste Management Conference (Photos)


The National Waste Management Conference 2016 with the theme “Developing Sustainable Frame Work for Waste Management” was held on the 1st and 2nd of November, 2016 at Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos. The conference aimed at creating awareness to the public on the need to have attitudinal change toward waste management issues, and to raise a campaign that seeks community efforts at jointly tackling the national waste challenges in the #CleanNigeria2016 campaign and to ensure that Nigeria’s major cities are ranked among the cleanest cities in Africa.

The conference also reiterated the need for national policy as well as enforcement, as a way to engender national stakeholder partnership for the overall agenda of the SDGs with the primary objective of stimulating action in the areas of critical importance such as achieving access to adequate equitable sanitation, and hygiene for all to end open defecation by 2030.

Keynote Speakers at the conference were: Amina J. Mohammed- Honorable Minister, Federal Ministry of Environment; Mrs Orelope Adefulire -Senior Special Advicer to the President on SDG, Federal Republic of Nigeria; Dr. Lawrence Anukam- DG/CEO NESREA; Mrs Morries Atoki – Manager PWC Nigeria;  Mrs Adepeju Adebayo- MD Project Management office and GeoCycle, Lafarge Africa Plc and Dr. Bukar Hassan- Permanent Scretary Feferal Ministry of Environment. The event was anchored by Wofai Samuel.
