It started off as a very wet Sunday, the kind where you just stay in bed all day, never leaving the comfort of your home, I had received an invitation to Wanneka’s Lounge opening in Lekki, being in my neighbourhood, I thought to honour the invitation, although I wasn’t optimistic that guests would brave the wet weather, to attend the grand opening of the lounge by Hairpreneur, Miz Wanneka .
Imagine my surprise, when a gathering meant for just a few people, becomes littered with the gliteratti expected of a much larger event. Stars, friends and well-wishers alike braved the dreary weather in support of Wanneka.
Stars who graced the event are: Denrele Edun ( Media Personality), Humblesmith(artiste), Eriata Ese(ex BBN Housemate), Jon Ogah( ex BBN Housemate), VJ Adams (Media Personality), Enado Odigie(actress), Wofaifada (Social Media Influencer and Comedienne), Iamnini1 (Social Media Influencer and Fashion Designer).
In a short interview with Ex BBN housemates Eriata Ese and Jon Ogah, both admit that life outside of the big brother house has been promising for their individual careers as Ese promotes her music and Jon makes attempts to transform, from being just a reality star to a recording musician, as he promotes his single ‘Uncle Suru’ featuring Adekunle Gold.
Most of the guests were willing to be a part of a Voxpop, where they share with Happenings what the craziest thing they have ever done for love is. For celebrities like Ese, the craziest thing she had ever done for love was spend her money on a man, Jon admits that he wrote a booklet of poems for his heartthrob at the time; Denrele says for love, he didn’t mind sharing the love of his heartthrob.
All of these, made for a lively fun atmosphere as Denrele Edun anchored the event and infused it with his vivacity, Humblesmith had guests dancing, quite vigorously to his live performance. Wanneka popularly known as Miz Wanneka the hair boss, seems to have added another notch to her entrepreneurial belt, as she takes on the challenge of being a restauranteur.
The restaurant and lounge is beautifully decorated with several rooms offering several dishes, such as the Calabar, Igbo, Delta, Italian kitchen, smoothies bar, Grill and Suya spot et cetera. when asked about the effort to have several kitchens serving different dishes under one roof, Wanneka Nkuma, says it is all part of an effort to ensure that customers all kinds of food at the lounge.
Wanneka admits that she is quite talented in cooking, and intends to be hands on at the restaurant, thereby guaranteeing that, the quality of food from her lounge is excellent. Her desire to join the throng of Nigerian restaurant owners, all stems from the desire to get good food, while eating out.
She also tells Happenings that the plans she has for her brand in 5 years is one so big, that it places Wanneka’s Lounge and Grill as a household name when we talk of food and hospitality.
Of course, her guests were treated to a delicious array of meals to be served at her restaurant.
