Just 7days after the senior secondary school debate to celebrate Felaberation 2018, Four presidential candidates had a debate.
They are Oby Ezekwesili represented by Tunji Lardner, a journalist and social activist. Fela Durotoye, Omoyele Sowore and Eunice Atu-Ejide. These presidential candidates are contesting under different political parties and while engaging in the debate, they also shared ideas about nation-building.
Felaberation is a yearly event, in commemoration of the music legend Fela. Furthermore, the moderator was Babajide Otitoju.
The debate took place at Hakeem Balogun Street, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos on the 15th of October 2018 and it was themed ‘Overtaking Overtake’.
Felaberation is an event that brings people from far and wide to honour the Afrobeat King. Each speaker gave a rousing speech about how Nigeria’s leadership will change for a greater course.
Thus, Oby Ezekwesili of Allied Congress Party (ACPN), said that Nigeria’s problem is not technical but psychological. And technology is one of the ways to ‘overtaking overtake’.
Eunice Atu Ejide representing National Interest Party (NIP) said any leader who is sincere and full of integrity can move Nigeria to the next level. She went further to say that character is everything.
Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters and the presidential candidate for African Action Congress (AAC) said: “the people who destroyed your future can never give you any future”. He went on to say that Fela would have been the best black president in the African continent. He also mentioned that the problem with Nigeria is that we reject our best for the worst.
In addition, Fela Durotoye of Alliance of New Nigeria (ANN) said that Nigerians can work in collaboration and civility to make Nigeria a better place.
