Briefing the media on the proposed sale of Ajaokuta Steel Company, Maharaji said auctioning Nigeria’s economic assets is a feature of neo-liberal globalization which sets circumstantially weak economies like Nigeria up for sale.

He noted that a sustainable deal that protects Nigeria’s right and access to using the company to transform its economic state should be worked out and duly implemented.

Commenting on the 2019 general election, Marahaji said he foresees a free and fair election, with President Muhammadu Buhari winning the second term.

“It is hypocritical for any southerner to field a candidate let alone desire to contest the presidential elections.

The North has to complete its second tenure for now until we change the rule of law”, Marahaji stated.
