Thus it is not enough to follow your favourite influencers on Facebook, but you get to meet and connect with them. Also one gets to put a face to their preferred social media pages.
In addition, social media interaction moved from the virtual coldness of the digital space, to embrace warm one on one human interactions.
On Sunday, 9th December 2018, several Facebook and social media influencers gathered at the Place, Adeniran Ogunsanya in Surulere.
It was a party like no other with vibrant games, entertainment, dance and award presentation; also photos with social media friends.
Former Super Eagles International, Mutiu Adepoju was also present at the event to coordinate football games and add to the fun at the event.
Furthermore, there was an interactive session, teaching about proper social media usage, dealing with trolls. The session also highlighted driving productive social media engagements.
Nollywood Actor, Deyemi Okanlawon was present to discuss how social media is impacting the entertainment scene in Nigeria.
In the midst of the fun, a proposal happened at the event to further crown the excitement.
The Lagos Hangout 2018, is the 3rd edition and it was themed ‘Stronger Together’. What better ways to combat the worrying trend of hostilities and rancour on social media.
The convener, Olumide Glowville stated that the platform aims to go bigger in 2019, creating more opportunities to build new friendships, create connections, and improve networking among users of Social Media.
