Africa's global bank, UBA Plc, celebrated its 70th Anniversary last weekend at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event which doubled as the 2019 UBA CEO Awards, was graced by celebrities and notable personalities, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; former Miss World, Agbani Darego; Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu; Aremo Olusegun Osoba; Cross State Governor; Prof. Ben Ayade; Founder Zenith Bank, Mr. Jim Ovia; Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and Publisher Ovation Magazine, Bashorun Dele.
Other notable personalities that attended the event were the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare; Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Lagos State Governor-Elect, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu; Ogun State Governor-Elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun; Kwara State Governor-Elect, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq; Barr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), among many others.
While giving the welcome address, Mr. Kennedy Uzoka, UBA's GMD/CEO, noted that the occasion was a significant milestone for the bank which started as the French & British Bank Limited in 1949.
"As we celebrate 70 years, it has been a long time of service, a long time of growth and most especially a long partnership with every single person that has made our incredible African story, we celebrate our commitment to changing the African narrative," he said.
Mr Victor Osadolor, Deputy GMD/CEO, UBA, coordinated the cutting of anniversary cake, while music stars, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking, Dbanj, Olamide and Wizkid performed at the event.
