The critics choice Tv awards held yesterday and the Beverly Hilton hotel saw a host of stars grace the red carpet. Thankfully, there was no risque fashion, celebrities were on their best behavior in varying silhouettes and fabulous designs, here are our top 10 picks and our best and worst dressed.
Emily Blunt who received an award yesterday, looked dashing in red! This red sequined lace number with crossed straps and peek-a-boo details is a winner. Simple double silver cuff bangles, earrings and a silver purse were her only accessories. Chic!
New mom Keira was pretty predictable in this floor length applique number. The rebellious fashionista as I like to call her, stayed true to her unusual fashion. She’s glowing! And even though the average eye will see this as a pretty shapeless dress, I opine that this is the Keira Knightley style! she loves to stand out, but not always in a flashy way.
Angelina Jolie is a stunner in this metallic number! But that bust area is a bit bulky don’t you think. Flared sleeves with a cinched in waist gives you an hour glass shape. And she looked simple but sexy in this dress, even though she’s all covered up.
Jessica Chastain looks simply stunning in this white Chinese cheongsam styled side slit dress. The silver embroidered detail was made deliberately to flatter the wearer. Details shouldn’t be attached for details sake! now this is how you use details to flatter a dress.
Jennifer Aniston dared to bare in a red two button tuxedo and matching pants. The side view of this outfit is not very flattering, I like the body chain. It’s daring, but it has attitude. There’s nothing fabulous about it, but the attitude would make you love love love.
Diane Kruger looks like a breakable china doll in this outfit, and I mean it in a good way trust me. I love the prints! The back almost-cape detail was fantastic, her dress matched the carpet, the white clutch didn’t distract the outfit, letting her hair down was the best decision she made , and the list goes on. Need I say more.
Resse did not disappoint at me at all! She’s known for always keeping it simple and chic, and that back detail though pretty, is a little not-well-put-together. I like it, but I don’t love it.
Melanie Brown looks fierce in this one piece monochrome jumpsuit. She draped a jacket over her shoulders for reasons I can’t fathom. Don’t get me wrong,it looks good, but I feel like it took away from the outfit. Anyway, to some, more is more, but for this outfit, I feel the jumpsuit alone would have stunned.
This cut-out midi suede detailed dress feels a bit… “hmmm” for me. Yes I am not really feeling it. It feels too simple for a red carpet, it looks pretty basic to me. It’s a pretty dress, but hey! She’s been in the media a lot these days so a little low key will do her some good.
There’s something about this dress that kept drawing me, I don’t know if its the detailed neckline which reminds me of modern bejewelled red Indian native outfit (think Mulan). I don’t like the belt, this dress has a lot of potential if properly styled, I think she didn’t use this dress to it’s full potential, but it’s a lovely dress, and I have to give her that.
And the best dressed is: Diane Kruger- I love the prints, I know she looks like a china plate but she pulled it off. I love the back detail, She looks simple, she looks beautiful.
And the worst dressed is: Taraji P Henson- I don’t like the dress, I think it was easy choice, Its not inspiring, it’s not critics awards worthy and she doesn’t look like she made an effort.
Do you agree?
