The VR (Victoria Roberts) collection which was recently launched by Mobos fashion CEO Mobo Biobaku sported stunning and eccentric fashion pieces, from fringe details, to circle skirts, lace and boxy silhouettes. We had a chat with the brains behind mobos fashion just to get a feel of her background in fashion, she shares with us her challenges and her fashion experience.
Here are a few questions we asked the boss.
How did you get started in the fashion world– Its been a journey for me. Its just been unfolding. I started buying and selling fashion pieces from my house.
How long have you been a business owner? I started off in the fashion industry 11 years ago.
What is the best part of your job? The best part of my job is having to do what I love to do best – I love fashion – and still make a living from it
What are your three favorite things in your stores right now from your VR collection? – I have no favourite pieces, I love all my creations
From an aspiring boutique owners perspective, what are some challenges you’ve had along the way? Poor infrastructure that in turn leads to high cost of production, we do not produce VR pieces from Nigeria so we are not faced with the basic challenges that come with production. Starting and maintaining a boutique comes with its challenges, from staffing to sizing to financing. But I never say never. Challenges never hold me back. You should always have a ‘yes I can’ attitude. So rather I’d say go for it, Just start.
What are you wearing – Today is a busy day at work. I look simple and chic in this VR top paired with a black denim and ballet flats.
