The new theme for the 2016 MET gala is out, you won’t believe what they picked

The annual MET gala which is know as the Oscars of fashion has set a theme for the next edition of the event. This event which features a guest list of A-list celebrities who grace the event in different interpretations of the dresscode theme which the MET gala is known for. This year’s theme “China-Through the looking glass” got celebs in their best style interpretations of the theme. Well, the theme for next year has been unveiled, and we love it!  On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed the 2016 theme will be an especially relevant one: “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”

“Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made,” said Andrew Bolton, curator of the Met’s Costume Institute. “But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other.”

We can probably expect plenty of “futuristic” interpretations of the theme, and—we’re betting—more than a few selfie sticks, which don’t play into the man-versus-machine theme per se, but last year’s guest list featured a staggering number of Instagram It girls (Kim, Kendall, and Gigi among them), so guests might have fun with the word technology.

The 2016 Met Gala will be held on Monday, May 2, and will be hosted and cochaired by Idris Elba, Jonathan Ive, Taylor Swift, and Anna Wintour. Designers Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, and Miuccia Prada will serve as honorary chairs.

We are super anxious to see what celebs will do with this theme as we expect some serious futuristic fashion. Predictions are welcome.
