President Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered the immediate dismissal of Abdulrasheed Maina, as the acting director of the department of Human Resources, in the Ministry of Interior.
He also ordered that the circumstances surrounding Maina’s reinstatement be investigated.
The president directed the Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, to submit to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, before the end of work today, Monday, a report on the circumstances leading to Mr. Maina’s recall.
According to a statement by the presidential spokesman Femi Adeshina, President Buhari has ordered “immediate disengagement of Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina from service”
News broke over the weekend, about the quiet reinstatement and promotion of Maina as an acting director, into the Federal Civil Service by the head of service Winifred Oyo-Ita, as a result of legal advice from the Attorney-General of the federation Abubakar Malami.
It will be recalled that Maina was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2013, because of the Pension Biometrics scam of which he allegedly embezzled N2 billion.
He has been out of the country since then and has reportedly been shuttling between Abuja and Kaduna when he sneaked back into the country, to pick up his appointment letter dated Oct. 2, 2017.
