In the aftermath of the confusion and fracas that greeted the Ekiti State All Progressive Congress gubernatorial primaries last Saturday, the party has resolved to use Direct Primary, involving all card carrying APC members in Ekiti State to chose its candidate.
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the Southwest, in conjunction with all the Governorship aspirants and the state party Exco, made the decision, after a closed door meeting in Abuja.
At the end of the meeting, the following resolutions were made;
1. To use Direct Primary involving All card carrying APC members in Ekiti State to chose its candidate
2. All in attendance, including Gov Almakura will meet with the National leadership of the party tomorrow, Wednesday
3. It was also resolved that any Aspirant that stepped down from the race before the primary will have his or her nomination form fee refunded.
4. The primary will take place in 177 wards of the state.
According to inside sources, present at the meeting were, Asiwaju Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Aare Olusegun Osoba, Chief Adebayo, Nassarawa State Governor Almakura and others.
They also reportedly proceeded to the residence of the party chairman, Chief John Oyegun to brief him on the latest development.
What this means is that all card carrying members of the APC will vote across all the Wards in Ekiti state, to pick their choice among the Aspirants.
This has widened the scope of the decision makers, by not limiting it to the Delegates alone.
This will also help the grassroots to produce the next APC Flagbearer that will be acceptable to, not just Ekiti APC but also the entire Ekiti people.
This is what the elders, Gov. Al Makura and the Aspirants arrived at yesterday and will be sent to the National Working Committee of the party.
The Meeting was held at the instance of PMB, who was reportedly embarrassed by the conduct of Saturday Primary.
