Bankole Wellington, otherwise known by his stage name Banky W, has responded to claims that he received 57 million naira to campaign for President Buhari.
Yesterday, one Shalom Miriam Shehu accused the MDP's House of Representatives candidate for Eti-Osa constituency of receiving money from the president via one Abubakar Ahmed to campaign for him.
But the ‘newbie' politician has gone on his Twitter page to refute those claims as “completely false and untrue” as he never met anyone by that name.
Replying Miriam's tweet, Banky W wrote: "FALSE. COMPLETELY false and untrue. I've never met this person, and never collected a dime to do anything for this President. I DARE YOU to show proof of the false stories you are peddling. Why would I be running on an independent party in my own constituency if that was my plan?"
But seeing that a reply wasn't enough to rub off the mess he had been dragged into, he shared series of tweets to clear his name and eventually promised to take legal actions against her. See screenshots of his tweets below.
Corroborating her husband's disclaimer, Adesua Etomi-Wellington confirmed that they were in Abuja around the period the lady talked about but it was for a sixteen-day activism against gender based violence.
