A young Nigerian migrant, Prince Jerry, has committed suicide in Tortona, Italy, after he was denied residency permit.
The 25-year-old reportedly jumped under a moving train and was crushed almost immediately.
The Biochemistry graduate had applied for residency on humanitarian grounds, which was not granted. The young man could not handle the rejection, so he decided to end it all on January 28, 2019.
Jerry arrived in Italy in 2016 by sea after a long trip through the desert to Libya.
He was buried this morning at the Chiesa dell'Annunziata in Genoa.
