Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, popularly known by his stage name, Falz, has finally weighed in on the trending rape case against two Lekki big boys.
Recall that the duo of Razaq Oluwaseun Oke and Don-Chima George (son of the owner of De Lankaster Hotels, Lekki) were arrested after they allegedly raped an unnamed 23-year-old girl some days ago.
This soon became an Internet hot topic after it was reported that police had released a suspected rapist and his accomplice after they bribed their way out of the case.
But a statement from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response team on Twitter reaffirmed that the perpetrators were still in custody.
Falz, who is one of the most vocal musicians in the country, has been called on by many to speak on the matter and the non-practicing lawyer has obliged.
"Our crooked and corrupt justice system makes everyone tremble that such a vile and despicable act of rape may go unpunished. However, information reaching me is that the accused persons have been detained and The Department of Public Prosecutions will respond ASAP," the singer, who has been dubbed the new Fela, wrote on Instagram.
"We will not back down until justice is done. Everyone in a position of influence should do all they can to ensure this isn’t another case swept under the carpet because someone used “long leg” to jump above the law. Do not remain mute. This doesn’t have to happen to your sister or family member before you react! #JusticeForRapeInNigeria."
