Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has been granted bail for the sum of 2 million naira after spending ten days in prison.

At the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, the singer was granted bail at the resumed bail application.

Olalekan Ojo, the lead defense counsel, had first apologised for his absence at the initial arraignment on May 20 due to a heavy down pour before urging the court to accept the bail application Prima Facie based on the presumption of his innocence in accordance with Section 162 (1).

Rotimi Oyedepo, leading the prosecution counsel, however, stated that final judgment was what mattered and not the temporary release.

Bail to the sum of two million naira with two sureties was granted to the suspect by the presiding judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo, after hearing the arguments of the defense and prosecution.

The trial was then adjourned to 22, 23 and 24 of October for accelerated hearing.
