A 25-year-old 200 level student of the Department of Geography, Plateau State University, Bokkos, identified as, Sheni Kimati, was killed on Sunday night by unknown gunmen.
The students of the university staged a protest on Monday morning to express their displeasure over the lack of security within the campus and the loss of their colleague.
They were comforted with the arrival of officers and men of the police command at the scene. The students reached a thrive with the PRRO, and normalcy was restored in the University.
Confirming the incident to the media, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Terna Tyopev, said: "At 11pm, on Sunday, unknown gunmen attacked the premises of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, during which one Sheni Kimati, 25, a 200 level student of the Department of Geography was shot.”
“The deceased was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty at a Cottage Hospital, Bokkos.”
Terna Tyopev also informed the press that no suspect has been arrested in connection with the attack yet. He then called on possible informants to help the security agencies with information that will be helpful in the arraigning of these criminals.
