The Nigerian Air Force helicopter crashed in the process of landing at Katsina airport. The incident reportedly occurred at around 3:30 pm, June 12, 2019.

NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, said they don't have sufficient information as to the reason for the crash and he said the helicopter was returning from an anti-banditry combat mission in the Northwest.

“However, there was no loss of life, either of persons on board the helicopter or on the ground,” he said.

Daramola also said that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, immediately directed the constitution of a Board of Inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident to prevent it from repeating again.

“NAF continues to solicit the understanding and support of the general public as it daily strives to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians,” he said.
