A 40-feet container fell and crushed an eighteen-seater commercial bus on Monday night, reports say.
According to the reports, the accident which occurred along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway resulted in heavy traffic, leaving commuters stranded. The gridlock was compounded by the poor condition of the road.
Fortunately, no lives were lost but the fallen container and bus remained at the accident scene for hours after the accident occurred. This, sources say, was a result of the late response from Lagos Response Unit and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Sources have also confirmed that there were no towing vehicles or similar equipment to move the fallen container and bus.
The recurring accidents in Lagos State have become a source of concern, and the government’s seeming nonchalance leaves much to be desired.
What do you think is responsible for these accidents? What can be done to curb them?
