SPAR, one of the leading shopping marts in Nigeria with branches across the country, has continued its commitment to the entertainment industry in a bid to aspire younger people to discover their talents.

Mariam Kayode was the recipient of the Best Child Actor award for the movie, "Coffin Salesman." The movie, directed by the renowned Imoh Umoren, earned Mariam the award courtesy Real Time Film and their biggest sponsors SPAR.

The group’s Head of Marketing, SPAR, John Goldsmith, who presented the award to Mariam said a few words of encouragement, urging parents and guardians to help their children realise their dreams.

He said:

Creative expressions cannot be separated from the realities of this age. Nigerians are doing great exploits globally and we need to nurture the upcoming talents which will, in turn, enhance the creative industry in the country in general. Our brand will continue to support the development of the Nigerian child through various initiatives

The recipient, who was filled with excitement, also had a word to say in the event of her award. She said:

I am excited to be a recipient of the award this year. SPAR has rewarded me for being a part of the movie industry and I will give my best to acting till the brand becomes so proud of me.

SPAR, in partnership with the Real Time Film Festival, had created a category for movies made by kids and they are the only organisation currently in Nigeria to do so. The festival consists of a workshop where children are schooled on filmmaking. They are also given a platform annually at the Real Time Film Festival to show any genre of film they have worked on.
