An American citizen, identified as Breedlove Shawn, has been taken into police custody for allegedly breaking his car key in the ear of a towing service official at the Murtala Muhammed international airport. The U.S. citizen was arrested by the police after a complaint was filed against him for assault.
Danjuma Garba, the Divisional Police Officer [DPO] of the international airport, confirmed the incident. He also informed newsmen that the man would be charged with assault and inflicting grievous bodily injury on his victim.
Mr. Lamidi Falekulo, Managing Director, Billafary Towing Services Limited, narrated the incident in a stakeholders meeting organised by the Federal Airports Authority and their SERVICOM unit in Lagos.
On Wednesday, the accused was confronted by the towing service officials for parking his vehicle in a restricted area at the airport. A fuming Shawn lashed out at one of the officials as they engaged in a scuffle before brutally stabbing the official with his key, which eventually broke in the ear of the official.
The official was then rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital [LASUTH] for immediate surgery to remove the key. Mr Falekulo vividly described the incident to his audience, pledging that justice would be served while encouraging other staffs to be diligent in their jobs at the airport and handle future matters carefully.
