A 29-year-old mother of four, Mrs. Chinasa Odah, who is an indigene of Inikiri Effum community, in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State, was said to have passed away after she allegedly took drugs prescribed for abortion by her lover
A Nigerian media outlet reports that the deceased had been sneaking out to have an extramarital affair with her 25-year-old boyfriend, identified as Monday Mgbada.
In the course of their illicit affair, Monday allegedly administered the abortion pills on her after impregnating her.
“Chinasa was bleeding from her private parts. When she was questioned, she opened up that one Monday Mgbada impregnated her and administered abortion drugs on her. As soon as she made that statement, she gave up the ghost," a source said.
A close family member narrated how the deceased started bleeding one day, and her husband, Michael Odah, immediately rushed her to Sudan Hospital in the area, where a doctor on duty, had confirmed that she had taken an illegal substance capable of damaging her womb. She bled to death at Sudan Hospital on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
The case was reported to the police station in Effuim and the suspect was arrested days later.
Confirming the death and arrest of the lover, the spokesperson of the Police Command in Ebonyi State, Loveth Odah, stated that the case was under investigation.
"The man has been arrested and investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be arraigned after investigation. The woman is 29 years old and had four children before going for extramarital affairs. The man will be charged with murder,” she announced.
