Nigeria To Spend N100 Billion On New Livestock Plan

A recent development from the agricultural sector has revealed that the country will spend N100 billion on a new, approved policy, which the Federal Government tagged the National Livestock Transformation Plan.

The Federal Government further explained that the aim of this new policy is not targeted at only cattle but the entire animal husbandry sector in the country, including goats, poultry and other livestock.

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, on Thursday, disclosed the "N100BN Animal husbandry plan" during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

Umahi made this revelation on behalf of the Federal Government, noting that the government will contribute 80 percent of the funds needed in grant, while the other 36 states will contribute land, project implementation structure, personnel.

The Federal Government added that the plan is voluntary for state governments that want to take advantage of the new livestock plan.
