Ex-employee narrates how she almost lost her sanity working for Glory Osei and Muyiwa Folorunso.
A few days ago, social media went agog when a former employee of popular lifestyle influencer (Nigerian Living Abroad) cum entrepreneur, Glory Osei, and her husband, Muyiwa Folorunso, were exposed for their fraudulent businesses which they had run for years in Nigeria.
The employee with the Twitter handle, Ada, explained how the two were in the habit of firing staff unjustly without pay and making their workplace toxic and unproductive.
She further revealed that Muyiwa and Glory, who are owners of Land Lagos, sold government owned lands at 3 million naira to unsuspecting Nigerians.
Happenings conducted an in-depth investigation and discovered that there were some truths to these claims.
Our sources, former employees of the couple's organization, explained that they saw a job vacancy on popular Linda Ikeji blog and other minor blogs for several positions and applied.
Upon arriving for the interview at their former office in Yaba, they were interviewed by Muyiwa Folorunso himself.
Another source claims that she had worked for about eight months before discovering that the company, which is called True Rebel Fashion House, ran other brands like Flat Tummy Tea, Slim Tea, Mecran, Body Shapers and Kute Shop.
It is reported that Glory started Kute Shop, as she was the money bag. She reportedly imported low grade jewellery from China and instructed the staff to paint them to give the jewellery a more expensive and authentic look. These pieces of jewellery were sold at extremely high prices but did not last and members of staff were left to bear the brunt of the customers' anger.
The couple rented a warehouse in Mushin, Lagos, where Slim Tea and Flat Tummy Tea were packaged, contrary to popular belief that these teas were made in China.
One of our sources, who was a top executive at True Rebel, explains that there was no difference between the Slim Tea and Flat Tummy Tea. They were only packaged differently to encourage women interested in losing weight to buy more.
Regarding their marketing strategy, our source explains that for the detox tea, they would get a model, stuff her with body pads and she would wear a big cloth which served as the 'Before' picture. Thereafter, they would take out the clothes and pads, then she would wear a smaller sized cloth and this would serve as the 'After' picture.
Our source explains that this technique worked, as the company raked in millions daily, up to 20 million daily from over 50 marketers/call representatives who were given targets, which led to lying at all cost to ensure that they sold and met their weekly targets. Our source provided us with the contract signed with True Rebel Fashion.
More shocking revelations were made about the couple. The story continues to unfold.
