Three Large Crocodiles Spotted at Ebute-Ero Market

Austin Papi

The people of Ebute-Ero woke to what would have been a potentially deadly attack of crocodiles in a market near Idumota, Lagos state.

According to reports from our correspondent at the scene, three crocodiles came out unto the market road in broad daylight, at exactly 8:40 am on Thursday, Oct 31, 2019.

Eyewitnesses said the Crocodiles swarm side by side the feet of pedestrians wading in the flooded street.

A woman who was almost a victim said she noticed a huge movement in the water and screamed for help, alerting the people in the neighbourhood.

The youths in Ebute-Ero hurled sticks and cutlass at the deadly reptiles, while one was caught, two predators swam away.

A crocodile is arguably the world's deadliest animal as it kills and eats it's victims alive, if pedestrians had not been alerted, it would have ended in tragedy.

The captured reptile reportedly measures 6 feet, showing it isn't a full-grown crocodile yet. A full-grown crocodile stands at 12-18ft long and it is difficult to pierce its thick hide with sharp objects.

Crocodiles are known to hunt in packs, thus Lagosians living in the Ebute Ero axis of Lagos must stay watchful until the flood recedes.
