Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, has stated that Nigerian roads are not as bad as citizens portray them to be.

The former Lagos State Governor made this known while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

Fashola blamed the state of roads on poor funding and delays in acquiring road construction supplies.

"The roads are not as bad as they are often portrayed. I know that this is going to be your headline, but the roads are not that bad,” Fashola stated.

"When I announce that a particular amount was approved for a contract, that doesn't mean the amount has been paid, contrary to what you suggest.”

Lagos road users have endlessly lamented the deplorable state of the roads and government’s negligence towards these roads. Many busy roads on the mainland are barely pliable and many Lagosians will disagree with Fashola.
