Davido Calls Out COZA Over Deceitful Advert

Nigerian music star, Davido, has called out the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA) over what he claims is a fraudulent use of his image to publicise a church event without his approval.

Over the last 24 hours, a video of the pop star seemingly endorsing a programme set to hold in the church in January has gone viral after a COZA member who had recorded the music star chatting with her child, mashed up the video to publicize the church event.

Hours after the video which featured Davido surfaced online, the 'Assurance' crooner was criticized for endorsing a programme hosted by a pastor who was accused of rape by a former church member while the church faced a backlash for using a secular star to promote their programme.

But the singer was quick to put out a disclaimer, dissociating himself from the church while stating clearly that he was deceived. He also threatened to sue if the video wasn't retracted.

“I’m writing to quickly disclaim the viral videos going around of me advertising COZA event to come up when I have to say I have NOTHING to do with the church!!!" a statement on his social media read.

"The fact that I did a quick video for a kid introduced as a fan just for her personal use and it was chopped up and used for an advert extremely disappoints me!!!

"I have never and most certainly not associated in any way with COZA church and have reached out to those responsible for this madness immediately!! I will most certainly be proceeding further if you do not react that video immediately!!! A word is enough!!!”

In recent times, COZA has been in the centre of a media storm following the rape allegation made by Busola Dakolo, the wife of singer, Timi Dakolo, against the church’s global senior pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo.
