Patience Amos, a new army recruit, has been confirmed dead. She was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, identified as Ali Wakil, in the Adamawa State capital, Yola.

Patience’s body was found in her boyfriend’s room already decomposing, days after she was involved in an alleged violent argument with him.

The neighbours alleged that they heard voices of Patience and her boyfriend at his residence in Damilu Jimeta area of Yola, but they did not perceive the argument as a fatal one.

A neighbour said:

‘’Residents became suspicious when we could not see the lady for good three days, and what worried us more was the terrible odour emitting from their room.

‘’What compounded the situation was how the door of the room was locked from the outside, a development which compelled people to forcefully open the window of the room only to discover the body of the female lover at the stage of decomposition.”

The 23-year-old lady was newly recruited into the Nigerian Army. However, the boyfriend claims to be military personnel serving with 68 Reference Hospital Yaba, Lagos State.

After the neighbours discover the dead body, they reported to the palace of their ward head who in turn reported to the police.

The police then established contact with the father of the deceased, Mr Amos Ya’u. He explained that his daughter left his house to braid her hair but did not come back. When it was getting late, they called her on the phone that fateful evening, but she told them that she would be coming back home soon.

The father added that her line later was no longer going through since Sunday. They heard nothing from her after four days until a police officer came and informed him of her death.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the killing of Patience to newsmen. He also confirmed that the suspect has already been arrested at the order of the Commissioner of Police.
