The Zuba division of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has reportedly apprehended a 24-year-old man, for allegedly raping a teenage student.
The accused was identified as Zaharadeen Hassan. He is a welder by profession and was said to have allegedly forced the 16-year-old girl into his room.
She was heading to her school last Friday, for evening classes when the welder overpowered her.
A witness who chose to be anonymous informed the police that the culprit, was assisted by two of his friends, who are still yet to be caught. They bundled the girl into the suspect’s room, locked her up for several hours where Hassan allegedly raped her.
The source who claims to be a family acquaintance to the victim, disclosed that the family of the victim reported the incident to Zuba police division on the same day, the accused was then arrested the following day.
The Zuba Divisional Officer, CSP Yahaya Muhammad, also confirmed the incident to newsmen, adding that a medical examination was immediately carried for both the accused person and his alleged victim.
He also announced that the matter would be transferred to the FCT police command, for further action.
If found guilty the culprit, Hassan would face jail time for unlawfully copulating with a minor without consent.
He would also be made to provide his accomplices who lend a hand to the heinous crime.
