Williams Ebulefu, a Chief Priest, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt for allegedly removing bullet from a suspected kidnapper.

Williams arrest came days after the suspected kidnapper, Charles Orlu, was finally apprehended by the Police and charged to court on three counts of murder, cultism, and Kidnapping.

The charge metered against Williams Ebulefu allegedly was solely for the removal of the bullet from the gunshot he (Charles Orlu) received during a crossfire amongst members of the kidnapping crew as violence broke out during the sharing of the ransom.

Ebulefu, however, pleaded not guilty to the two counts of illegal removal of bullet and possession of illegal firearm. The Magistrate, Emmanuella Okerie, who sat the hearing, granted bail to the priest in the sum of N1,000,000.00 (one million naira) and two sureties of whom one must be a civil servant of level 12.

The trial Magistrate adjourned the court for final hearing of the matter on 10th of February.

Meanwhile, Orlu, the kidnapper was alleged to have killed one Chisom Worlu on the 18th of December 2019 along Omuakwuru community farm road in Igbo-Etche in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The charges claimed that Orlu conspired with some others who are still at large and kidnapped a victim around Eliozu, who they later released within Eleme town after a ransom of N3.5 million was paid.

It is also understood that after the successful kidnap and receiving of the ransom then trouble broke out within the gang during sharing of the ransom. The crossfire led to the killing of Chisom and bullet wound on Orlu.
