A Chief Magistrate Court in Ikeja, on Thursday, during one of its hearing, remanded a 25-year-old man, Zuberu Kamilu, in Kirikiri Correctional Service for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
The Chief Magistrate, who sat the hearing of Mr K.O. Ogundare, turned a deaf ear to the petition of the defendant, Zuberu Kamilu, as he ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) immediately for review and advice.
The defendant, who disclosed that he resides in the Mushin area of Lagos, is currently facing a two-count charge of rape and breach of peace.
During the presentation of the case, Prosecutor, Insp Edet Akadu, informed the court that the defendant, Zuberu Kamilu had committed the dreadful act on Jan. 26, around 2 p.m. in the afternoon at his residence in Mushin.
Akadu said that the defendant lured the girl into his residence and forcefully had sexual intercourse with a minor. He added that such detestable offence contravened sections 168, 135 and 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Ogundare went on to adjourned the case until Feb. 26 for mention and evidence presentation.
