A Nigerian lady named Vivian Emesaraonye Dimgba has taken to her Facebook account to narrate how an ATM card thief was nabbed in a hotel after stealing her mum’s ATM card and withdrawing the sum of N500,000.
It was said that Vivian’s mum had gone to make use of the ATM but it wasn’t working, and she had to ask the young man who was behind her for assistance.
The young man who claimed to be a police officer accepted to assist her, though with a motive. He went on to tell Vivian’s mum that the card was stuck inside the machine, and the best thing would be to report the case to the security man who guards the bank since the bank had closed for the day.
At midnight, Vivian’s mum received a transfer debit alert of N300K and N100K respectively. It was at this moment that she dressed up to go report the case to the nearest police station.
On getting to the police station, she wrote a police report but the officers couldn’t do much since they weren’t sure where the transaction had taken place.
Fortunately, at about 1am, a debit alert of N7k was received indicating the location (EASTGATE HOTEL) where the transaction was made. Luckily for Vivian’s mum, the hotel was just 15 minutes away from their home.
They all got to the hotel with the policemen who were on duty to find the ATM card thief. He was later caught alongside a lady who he had lodged with. It was reported that he was meeting the lady for the first time.
Not only was the card belonging to Vivian’s mum retrieved from the culprit, other cards belonging to other people were found on him as well.
The thief, however, has been apprehended and whisked away alongside the girl he lodged with.
