Babajide Sanwo-Olu was the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate at the gubernatorial election, which held yesterday in Lagos State.
The technocrat turned politician, who cast his vote alongside his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, at the polling Unit 019, Ikoyi 2, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, yesterday, had an exclusive interview with FUNSHO AKINWALE of Happenings.
How would you assess the governorship election compared to the presidential election when electoral materials did not arrive here on time?
I cannot judge the exercise now because we just started the process. Yes, I understand we had card reader issues during the presidential election, but as you can see, everything has been resolved. I just cast my vote and there was no problem in the course of doing that. I really appreciate INEC for the improvement.
Are sure of winning the election?
Today, March 9, 2019, makes it six months that I received my APC gubernatorial ticket. I will say my mandate is divine. If you ask me this question again, that is the answer I will give to you. I have contributed to the state in no small measure and that is what the party saw in me before selecting me for the job. I pray when I get to the seat, God should give me more wisdom to do more. I am sure of victory in today’s election.
What is your advice to ensure peace and calmness as the election continues across the state?
Look at the peace and calmness we are seeing here and I believe it will be propagated across the state.
