Fans of “The Hammers” are expressing their delight on social media at the news of a possible transfer for Manchester City castaway, Kelechi Iheanacho who is set to join West Ham on a two-year deal.
The news comes one day after the club announced the signing of Pablo Zabaleta from City on a free transfer, also on a two-year deal.
West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic has been on the lookout for a new henchman and has seemingly made an early move to sign the talented Nigerian striker for £24m.
Iheanacho’s playing time under Guardiola was limited last season, especially with the infusion of Gabriel Jesus into the team, but he still managed to net seven goals for City in all competitions.
The 20-year-old striker was also on the scoresheet last night as he scored from the penalty spot as Nigeria drew 1-1 with Corsica in a friendly. And he reportedly left the Super Eagle’s training camp for London for a scheduled meeting and possible medicals at West Ham.
Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are currently first and second choices respectively before him, and with City’s acquisition of Bernardo Silva Pep Guardiola would obviously be spoilt for choices.
The fee would make him the most expensive player in Nigerian history, topping the £20m Chanchung Yatai forked out for Odion Ighalo back in January.
