Three men have being remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prisons for vandalizing a 500KV transformer belonging to Ikeja Electric company. These men were arrested and arraigned before a magistrate court in Ogba, Lagos state on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit felony, attempt to steal and vandalize distribution transformer cables and unlawful possession of dangerous tools.
The accused persons were however, remanded in prison and the matter was adjourned till June 19, 2017 for further hearing, citing Igando, Akowonjo, Oshodi and Ayobo as the worst hit areas.
Meanwhile, Ikeja Electric’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Felix Ofule has lamented the rise in vandalism, saying that the distribution company has been hit by over 30 attacks on transformer
sub-stations within a space of four months.
