Apprentice Arrested for Abducting Boss’ Son

The Ondo State Police Command has nabbed one Obinna Stephen for allegedly conniving with a herbalist to kidnap his boss’ eight-year old son in Akure, the Ondo state capital .

The suspect, along with three others, including a herbalist identified as Eze Ifeanyi, were paraded on Friday, at the Police headquarters in Akure.

According to reports, Stephen, an apprentice with three others, abducted the son of his boss, Mr. Echiefor Chuks, an electrical materials trader in Arakale market, Akure. The suspects then demanded a ransom of N50m, before they were nabbed by men of the state police command in Omoniyi Estate Akure.

Speaking to newsmen, Ondo state Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Hilda Harrison, revealed that Stephen conspired with other suspects to kidnap Mr. Ejiofor’s son at Don Bosco Catholic Church, Akure.

Harrison said: “On receipt of the kidnap report, we swung into action and got the suspect (Stephen) arrested. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the complicity in the crime. Further enquiries led to the arrest of other suspects.” She disclosed that the boy was rescued unhurt and reunited with his family”.

The commissioner also said that some dangerous items were recovered from the suspects, including one locally-made pistol, one Beretta pistol, some live ammunition, and two live cartridges. She also added
that the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigations
have been concluded
