Although the Capital Oil boss, Ifeanyi Ubah, may have been screened by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to contest for the party’s ticket for Anambra’s governorship seat, his governorship ambition is immersed in controversy.

The PDP screening committee, led by the former minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri on Thursday, 10th August, 2017 screened Capital Oil boss Ifeanyi Ubah; the former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah and others who are fiercely contesting for the PDP ticket, as the gubernatorial aspirant, representing PDP at the governorship election in Anambra state, slated for November 18 2017.

Ifeanyi Ubah’s appearance at the PDP secretariat for the screening, generated controversy, because his, is a rather peculiar case. Being that he defected from the Labour Party (LP)  and is rumoured to be a card carrying member of the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC).

Opinions are divided; Loyalties are being shifted, as party devotees are torn, with regards his implicit allegiance to PDP. Furthermore, his alleged involvement in the oil subsidy corruption debacle, during the administration of former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, still sits fresh in the minds of not just indigenes of Anambra state, but Nigerians as well.

It is not clear, if he has been exonerated of the crime, that he allegedly tampered with 11billion Naira worth of petroleum products, syphoned to his tank farm. The controversial businessman cum politician, was arrested and detained for two weeks for the crime, having refunded 2billion Naira of the 11billion stolen.
