Although Zinox boss, Leo Stan Ekeh, has vehemently denied, the rumour making the rounds that he has intentions of contesting for governorship in Imo state, it still circulates within the elites and grassroots circles.
A close source confirmed to Happenings that the reason why these rumours persists, is as a result of the billionaire’s growing influence in his home state lately; especially after last year’s Yudala Show in Owerri. The event was one of the biggest to be staged in the city after a long time. The event created so much buzz, that it would not be forgotten in a hurry as several musical artistes stormed the state to dish out their scintillating performances and captivate residents of the states.
It was gathered that since then, the IT guru’s influence and profile has risen to its zenith, with so many people within the state are imploring him to throw his hat in the ring and contest for Governorship of Imo state, especially as the state has not witnessed good representation since the onset of democracy.
The source further hinted that top emissaries from different political parties from the state have in different times, have paid him courtesy visits, in a bid to convince him into contesting under their party flags come 2019, when the tenure of the incumbent Governor, Rochas Okorocha comes to an end. According to our source, he is yet to give a convincing response.
