Ahead of the Gubernatorial Election in Anambra State billed for November 2017, political permutations are in top gear, as political contenders, go as far as covenanting their emergence to secure financial backing.
This is not a strange development in Nigeria’s polity but the frightening mode it is gradually taking, gives one course for worry, as these contenders go as far as bartering with their financiers, the numbers of commissioners he or she, would be allowed to choose, in their cabinet.
A typical sample is that of a legal agreement entered into by one Prince (Engr). Arthur Eze OFR the financier and Hon. Dr Tony Nwoye who is contesting the Anambra’s state governorship.
Information gathered from a reliable source revealed that Eze is by the agreement entered into with the beneficiary, authorized to singlehandedly nominate 10 commissioners to serve in preferred ministries in Nwoye’s executive cabinet, if he ends up becoming Anambra’s elected Governor.
Eze is also legally entitled to 30 percent monthly of the total, Internally Generated Revenue of the state, which is in the said agreement to which the duo already appended their signature.
Tony Nwoye is currently a serving member of the Federal House of Representives representing Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, a mention of his name needs no introduction in the political sphere of Anambra, being the first and the youngest state chairman of the executive committee in the PDP, year 2007 at age 31.
The astute medical Doctor and two term legislator who got elected as a Federal lawmaker in 2010 representing Anambra East/West Federal constituency, at the Federal House of Representatives, is all out to be the next Governor of State and to occupy the State House in Awka, proudly termed ‘the light of the nation’.
Nwoye it would be recalled, fought at the election tribunal, and retrieved the mandate for PDP at the April 11 2015 election, to serve at the Federal House of Reps being from Madueze, under the umbrella of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He was pronounced the winner by Justice Nayai Aganaba in Awka on October 12,2015.
The Offianta Nsugbe man, and thoroughbred politician, also the founder and non Executive Director of Vintage Consolidated Ltd is leaving nothing to chance as he covets the number one man’s job quite vigorously.
In retrospect, the youthful but resourceful Dr. Nwoye, practically gave Dr. Andy Uba a bloody nose, despite his family ties with Chris Uba at the primaries, before the 16 Nov. 2013 gubernatorial election in PDP.
Now a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Tony Nwoye is known to pull an enviable weight in the political permutations in Anambra and is indeed a strong contender at that.
